Electronic musician, DJ and composer Bendik Baksaas has made a mind melting club reinterpretation of the Christian Winther song «Looking Up». Give it a listen and let it spice up your friday!
Electronic musician, DJ and composer Bendik Baksaas loves mechanical
repetition and cherish the human rhythm. In the service of minimalism,
he’s now tackled the impressionistic sounds of Norwegian guitarist and
songwriter Christian Winther for a mind melting club reinterpretation of
his song «Looking Up», the end finale from Winther’s debut solo album
«The Clearing», released late last year via Fysisk Format.
«Listening to the original track for the first time I was
immediately drawn to the longing phrase "what I used to be? So skinny"
which gives me a chilling resonance on a few levels. Tried out chopping
and playing around with that phrase. When I pitched it up everything
clicked and the track played out itself. Adding the guitar chords to the
swinged breakbeat was especially fun, as it is an element I never used
in my music before.»
