On Friday, September 20th, Daufødt will release their third studio album "Glitter" on Fysisk Format. Glitter, not as in glitz and glam, but like the kind that doesn’t go away, that sticks. This album is Daufødt’s assement of 2024 from a young adult’s perspective. It’s desperate cries about the end times while watching videos of cute dogs. A new seriousness that comes with age, when critical thinking is fully developed, and nightmare fantasies about everything that can go wrong, because things have gone wrong, run rampant.
The album spans from radio-friendly rock hits and minute-long punk songs to nine-minute-long noise rock jams – evidence of a band in constant evolution. While its predecessor, the Lasse Marhaug collaboration "Aromaterapi," was a violent and experimental release, "Glitter" has a punchier and more direct sound. The Daufødt signature mix of catchier rock references and extreme noise elements is, of course, present and more refined than ever. In other words, "Glitter" is catchy, brutal music for the end of the world.
Daufødt consists of vocalist and designer Annika Linn Verdal Homme, bassist Eskild Myrvoll, guitarist Eirik Albrethsen Reithaug, and drummer Mads Antonsen Gerzić."Glitter" is Daufødt’s third album. The band won the Spellemann Award in 2021 for their debut album "1000 Island." Their second album, "Aromaterapi," was released in 2022. Since then, they have toured Scandinavia multiple times and played numerous festivals, including Roskilde and Øyafestivalen.
Quotes:
"‘Glitter’ is the sound of being hit by a brick, but in a way that makes you look forward to the next blow."
"Music for the end times – when everything goes to hell, at least you can have a good soundtrack."
"Our most important goal when writing songs and making music is to avoid OUR BIGGEST FEAR: making the same album again. Thankfully, ‘Glitter’ meets this goal. The album is rather a summary of our motto: recognizable, but unpredictable."
