One of this year’s big highlights in the Action Jazz catalog is a brand-new album by Gard Nilssen Acoustic Unity, expanded for the occasion with saxophonists Signe Emmeluth and Kjetil Møster.
In the fall of 2024, the quintet travelled to Ocean Sound Studio on the remote Norwegian west coast and out into the wide-open waters, both geographically and musically.
The result is a surplus project of a jazz album, which seriously pushes boundaries and expands the possibilities of music, packed with both harmony and dissonance. Great Intentions is an album full of surprises and exceptional musicianship, an album every bit as great as its intentions.
