Spielbergs signs with Fysisk Format and Big Scary Monsters, and the single "Brother of Mine" is out now!

Spielbergs recieved standing ovations for their 2018 debut album "This Is Not The End" by Pitchfork, Stereogum, Kerrang, The Guardian and NME, as well as being aired on BBC1 and BBC6 Rock. Now we're so lucky that they have signed with us in Fysisk Format, as well as with Big Scary Monsters! We celebrate this with the release of their new single "Brother of Mine", a classic Spielbergs song with sensitive and painful nostalgia.

The new track is the first of some exciting new music to come in 2022 and the band’s first on their two new labels, respected and renowned Big Scary Monsters (UK/RoW) and Fysisk Format (Scandinavia).

The new single sees the band back with a proper bang – all soaring heart-on-sleeve indie/punk rock delivered with their trademark frenetic heartfelt 1000mph energy yet tinged with a slight melancholic darkness.

Stereogum says about the song:

"A massive wave of energy and earnest noise"

While RockSound says this:

"That tune is 'Brother Of Mine', a jangly, whole-hearted modern pop-punk masterpiece, brimming with soaring melody and uplifting atmospheres. Creating glorious tension and then letting it all out in one overwhelmingly lovely crescendo, it's the sort of music that speaks directly to the soul. There's something quite magical about that, isn't there?"

Christian Løvhaug (Drums) tells us how they feel about signing with BSM and Fysisk Format:

- It’s an honour to sign with BSM and Fysisk Format and become part of a family that share many of the same values as ourselves. We feel very comfortable and at home. We’re proud to be included on their list of amazing bands and music, including those that have shaped our own musical taste and inspired us in many ways. Our relationship with Fysisk Format goes way back. Even before the label was founded their record shop Tiger was (and still is) the record store for every DIY, punk, HC, alt-rock seeking kid in Norway!

Spielbergs are Oslo based trio - Mads Baklien (vocals/guitar), Christian Løvhaug (drums), Stian Brennskag (bass). The band have been likened to the likes of The Replacements, Japandroids, Cloud Nothings, Titus Andronicus in recent times but also sit out on their own with their distinctive heart-on-sleeve indie/punk rock/emo.
