Andreas Røysum Ensemble, Marvin Tate with Marvin Tate

Norwegian clarinetist Andreas Røysum and the legendary Chicago-based poet / artist Marvin Tate met in 2023, when both were performing at Berlin Jazzfest. “Andreas Røysum Ensemble with Marvin Tate” is the fourth album by the ensemble, and contains the first recorded fruits of this meeting of visionaries. The new-found collaborators bring out the best in each other, reaching new levels of expression and purpose.

Røysum gathered his best friends and favorite musicians to found his dream ensemble in 2018. Røysum Ensemble have now established themselves on the forefront of creative music, serving their notoriously spicy gumbo of jazz, folk, soul and contemporary music influences to more and more enthusiastic listeners.

Marvin Tate has been a driving force in Chicago culture since the mid-eighties. Initially making a name for himself as the slam champion of the city, the nineties saw him leading the musical groups Uptighty (with Leroy Bach of Wilco, and Dan Bitney of Tortoise) and D-settlement.
